Ruwanweli Maha Seya 🙏🤍🤍

Ruwanweli Maha Seya, located in the Mahamevna Garden of Anuradhapura, is a sacred place highly revered by the Buddhist people of Sri Lanka. It is also known as the "Swarnamali Maha Seya". The construction of this Maha Seya was initiated by King Dutugemunu in the 2nd century BC (161 - 137 BC). This is considered the largest stupa enshrining the Buddha's bodily relics, which are about a basin in size. This bubble-shaped stupa is a masterpiece of Sinhala architecture. The elephant-shaped wall (Elephant Wall) facing the four directions in the courtyard surrounding the temple is a unique feature here. It is about 338 feet high and 294 feet in diameter. It belongs to both the sixteenth and eighty-sixth sacred sites. According to Buddhist literature, it is believed that when Maitreya Buddha becomes Buddha in the future, the relics enshrined in this stupa will gather and form the Buddha image.

I go to Ruwanweli Seya once a month to pay homage to the deity. The feeling I get when I enter the courtyard makes even the heaviest of burdens lighten. People come here from all over our country. Every day I go to the courtyard, it is full of devotees. I must have also made merit by being born in this sacred land.

Come too..🤍🤍
